A team of researchers from the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga University of Science and Technology (JOOUST), IDOS Germany, and Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) recently paid a courtesy visit to the Vice Chancellor of JOOUST to present updates on their ongoing study focused on the career trajectories and knowledge of agriculture graduates from Kenya and Tanzania.
The collaborative project aims to explore and refine agricultural education in the region, ensuring that curricula better align with the evolving demands of the agricultural job market. The researchers highlighted the importance of bridging the gap between academic training and industry needs to ensure that graduates are equipped with the skills and knowledge required by the dynamic agricultural sector.
During the meeting, the team provided insights into their progress thus far, noting that understanding the career paths of agricultural graduates is key to enhancing educational frameworks. By analyzing the skills gap and tracking the career journeys of these graduates, the project seeks to identify areas for improvement within agricultural training programs.
The project is expected to contribute valuable insights to the development of more responsive and effective educational strategies, ultimately benefiting the agricultural economy and the wider society in both Kenya and Tanzania.
