News & Blog

JOOUST is delighted to announce that three of our officers (Prof Christopher Gor, Project PI, Dr. Mary Orinda – Dean SAFS, and Mr. Samuel Ohanga – Project Manager) are currently attending the second in-person workshop; Selection of Cohort 2 Scholarship Beneficiaries, educational tour, staff mobility activities, and joint proposal-writing sessions hosted by the University of the Free State (UFS) in Bloemfontein, South Africa.

This high-level engagement forms part of the European Union (EU) co-funded Intra-Africa Academic Mobility Project – MAINSTREAM, which seeks to advance academic exchange, strengthen institutional collaboration, and support capacity development across African universities.

The program began with the arrival of all partner institutions on Sunday, 23 November 2025, and activities will continue until Monday, 8 December 2025, at UFS’s Bloemfontein Campus.

This year’s workshop has brought together a diverse and vibrant group of participants from Germany, Togo, Senegal, Uganda, Ethiopia, and Kenya, fostering rich intercultural exchange and collaborative learning.

JOOUST’s participation reinforces our commitment to:

  • Enhancing internationalization and staff development
  • Strengthening collaborative research and proposal development
  • Expanding continental and global academic partnerships
  • Contributing to innovation and shared solutions in higher education

Our officers are actively engaging in joint proposal writing, technical workshops, knowledge exchange sessions, and institutional visits, alongside partners from across Africa and Europe.

We applaud our delegation for their representation and look forward to the expertise, networks, and collaborative opportunities they will bring back to JOOUST.
